Dominio del Urogallo

Dominio del Urogallo is a company that is located in the very recent designation Cangas del Narcea,
in the Asturias region of northern Spain between Galicia and Cantabria.

The Cangas area is wedged between the mountainous hills del'Asturias, a very isolated place. She combines a fascinating, wild and archaic.

In the nineteenth century, the wines of the area had a great reputation and often were winning international competitions, with the advent of phylloxera disappeared almost everything today DO Cangas del Narcea counts 100ha vineyards.

Nico and Fran are the manufacturer since 2009 of the company's Domain Grouse, the first originates in the
Toro region and son of winemakers, the second was an entrepreneur in the field of energy in Andalusia.

The company immediately had the goal of producing wines from the great territorial impact looking
therefore to appreciate the steep slopes and steep shale, anthracite and silica thanks to 4 varieties
native; as white: albarin blanco; as red: Verdejo, carrasquin, albarin dyed.

Viticulture follows certain principles of biodynamics and preparations 500 and 501 are produced directly
by Nico. Fermentation cellar occur without yeasts and without added
of sulfur.

Practices considered by local producers almost esoteric, never accepted in the years that have thus
Nico drove and Fran to leave the denomination of Canga to produce "table" wines.
Wines from Nico table find their highest expression of some cuvées, as the Retortorio, a
prefillossera vineyard 120 years to 800 meters above sea level which offers wines of character but always ends and elegant.
