Dario Princic

A forerunner of quality in Collio, a pioneer of the great macerated whites of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Dario Princic is a living legend in the winemaking sector. He is a specialist in the traditional monovarieties of Collio (Pinot Grigio, Jakot, Ribolla Gialla) added to micro-quantities of allochthonous vines, though strictly expressed only by local clones (Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet). Blends are rare.

Dario Princic works 11 hectares of vineyards on spectacular terraces in the village of Oslavia, the heart of the Collio just a few metres from the Slovenian border, beyond which he also owns small plots of vines. Dario works exclusively with traditional methods, does not use selected yeasts, does not filter, does not make adjustments and lets the wine work on the noble lees for a long time without fear of compromising the product. The innate strength of Collio is in his wines, which are characterised by reasonable structure, elegance and impressive precision, despite the "free" style of production.
