Description

Since my mother went to Heaven in 2006, I deeply felt about dedicating her a wine, but I did notknow which one, what type, how… Then, inspired by her name – she was called Rosa, although everyone knew her as Rosetta – I decided to make a dry pink wine. At this point I had to choose which vine variety to use and the choice fell on our Malvasia, because she liked it a lot – even if she preferred the sweet version – and also because I consider it a wine with a strong and unmistakable personality. My intent has never been to make a rosé or a pink wine starting from my red grapes, as this would have involved vinifying the grapes in white, then clarifying them and finally filtering to reach the pink color: all operations to which I am clearly opposed!

From this winery
Grandfather Orlando planted a small vineyard for family consumption in 1930 in Arola, more precisely in a place called “Groppone” (so called for the enormous slope of the land). My grandfather had many varieties of grapes grafted by his brother-in-law Oreste Cavalli. They were the most diverse ones: from the most famous such as Barbera, Bonarda, Sangiovese, Lambrusco Maestri and Grasparossa, Malvasia Aromatica di Candia, Sauvignon and Moscato Giallo, to the now disappeared ones as Uva Rara, Terra Promessa and others of which we know only the dialect term, for example “al Besmén”. It lends itself well to combining with our typical cured meats (salami, ham, cooked shoulder, bacon, etc.). As mentioned above, it is also great with risottos, vegetable and tomato pasta and white meat second courses. Excellent and “superb” with pizza … a must-try!!!
