Description

The idea for this vintage came to me one morning while admiring the dawn break over the estate's vineyards. The faint rays of sun illuminating the shores of the Maremma also inspired its name: Aurea Gran Rosé – aurea being Italian for “golden”. The most representative wine of the estate is the ideal union of sea and vineyards, Syrah and Vermentino, and the elegance and harmony of nature. (Lamberto Frescobaldi)

From this winery
Tenuta Ammiraglia lies in the heart of the Maremma, amidst vineyards that paint evocative geometries and hills that lap the nearby Tyrrhenian coast.

It is in this land of Tuscany warmed by the sun and mitigated by the sea breeze that the Tenuta Ammiraglia of the Frescobaldi family was born. It is home to an area of great potential for the production of high quality wines, as well as undoubted natural beauty, so fascinating and still unspoilt.

The estate's signature wine cellar originates from a project by Piero Sartogo and Nathalie Grenon and today represents a temple of design at the service of wine production of the highest quality, with an eye always turned towards respect for the surrounding environment.

Tenuta Ammiraglia in fact means Tuscan wine known throughout the world and produced with great respect for the Tuscan wine-making tradition, without ever forgetting innovation and attention to the future of the sector.

Story Aurea’s secret lies in the combination of territorial characteristics, the management of the vineyard itself and, of course, human input. The proximity to the sea, the typical white variety vineyard cultivation, as well as the processing of Syrah grapes as if they were white, all came together to create Aurea. Its unmistakable elegance and full-bodied structure are the result of great care and vital attention to detail from the vineyard to the cellar.
Harvest By hand, with selection and sorting of bunches. The harvest is carried out in the coolest hours of the day.
Wine making Once harvested, the grapes are quickly brought to the wine factory. The whole grapes are loaded into the press and deprived of oxygen, and the bunches are carefully rechecked. Pressure is applied very gently and delicately at this stage to avoid putting the fruit under too much stress. This process, together with carefully selecting the must and its subsequent decanting for no less than 12 hours, removes any coarse earthy components. Fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature of 16°C in 20% new, medium-toasted 600-litre French oak barrels.
Aging Once the process is completed, the two varieties are blended followed by a period of ageing on fine lees for 8 months. Later, a small amount of Reserve Wine, made from Syrah grapes from the previous harvest vinified in whit aged in barriques for 20 months, is added.
