Description
"Although 2016 was a good year in Sicily, with a mild climate that favoured a regular development of ripening, in our opinion what is ordinarily good is in no way suited to the extraordinary personality that Il Rosso di Ludovico has to express and represent; consequently, we considered it opportune to make a vintage jump. In fact, in Sicily, 2017 was the year of great contrasts: a cool, rainy Spring followed by Summer periods of dry, torrid heat. In this context, the favourable position and the prudent management of the Vigneto di Ludovico, combined with the natural resistance to this extreme climate of our indigenous vines, once again confirmed a well-known assumption, namely that historically 'hot vintages have a positive influence on great red wines'. From such a complex vintage, therefore, could only come a wine that lives up to what it wants and must represent. Today, Il Rosso di Ludovico 2017 manages to show itself as an iconic wine, at the same time intriguing and austere without ever losing elegance. Enveloping and direct, it gradually releases a surprising richness of aroma and taste in the glass". (Giuseppe Clementi - Technical Director of Orestiadi)
