Corte delle Signorie Barolo Bussia Episcopus 2019
Barolo Episcopus from the Ròmea Line from the winery Corte delle Signorie line is a limited production collection wine, available on xtraWine.
This wine pays homage to Italian excellence.
Its name is linked to the history of Barolo , which, before being appreciated by European courts, was the wine of Piedmontese Clergy, especially of bishops (Episcopus in Latin). Many legends place Barolo as the wine of ecclesiastical excellencies. According to one of these, the Bishop of Asti ordered the removal of all vineyards in his territory and planted Nebbiolo instead, fascinated by this mysterious wine.
But the legend is further supported by history: in some documents from the 1400s, it was reported that the Bishop of Turin demanded Barolo as payment instead of the rent of the church lands.
Barolo Episcopus Corte delle Signorie is therefore a tribute to the long winemaking tradition of Piedmont and its reputation for producing some of the best red wines in the world.
