Growing areas It is widespread, albeit marginally, in all the central and southern regions.
History Unknown origins, but Sannino, in 1892, cited it as the most important vine in the Teramo area. Today, it is present in central Italy in old plants.
Features ampelographic Leaf: medium or nearly large, orbicular or pentagonal, five-lobed; Semi-closed or open petiole breast, elliptical, moderately deep; Upper side ellipsis, closed, very deep; Lateral lateral veins lower than V, open, moderately or very deep. Upper face glabrous, green loaded, wavy, bolled; Underside of glabra, wavy lobes with angles at the top or obtuse; The main ribbons on the bottom page of green, often slightly blurred with pink, purple. Irregular dentition, in 1, 2 or 3 series, with large teeth, straight edge, narrow-banded. Bunch: large, cylindrical elongated, or cylindrical-conical, sometimes even bifurcated, tight or semi-tight, short peduncle, medium-sized, semi-woody; Short pedicel, big, green; Little unclear, big, green; Thick, greenish-yellowish brush. Features wine The wine obtained from the montonic grape is of straw yellow color, more or less intense. On the palate it is fresh, fruity, spicy.
Notes Resistance to illness and adversity: maximum to late colds; Medium strength of leaves and bunches to dewdrop and oid; In vinedubles, grapes are easily attacked by rotting.
