Terlan's tradition as a wine-growing region goes back over 2000 years. The mild climate accompanies the ripening of the grapes, giving them a unique flavour.
The location of Terlano, situated on the slopes of the Tschöggel mountain, is fundamental to the development of the vines on ideal soil: the porphyry stores heat and the porous sandstone allows water to run off into the earth, keeping the soil dry in contact with the roots.
Today, the Cantina di Terlano, founded in 1893, has more than 100 members who produce high-quality grapes driven by a Cuvée rich in tradition and innovation. The fruits of this careful and natural cultivation are vinified in modern facilities with care and insight.
The white wines have contributed to the fame of the Cantina Terlano: fruity, full-bodied wines with remarkable fullness and longevity. The lively Pinot Blanc and the pleasantly aromatic Sauvignon stand out in particular.
This is followed by the Chardonnay and the famous Cuvée di Terlano, harmonious and refined. The red wines also show substance and character thanks to the indigenous Schiava and Lagrein grapes, or Pinot Noir and Merlot, cultivated in South Tyrol for over a hundred years. Every single bottle proves the vital work of winemaker Rudi Kofler, an expert in producing authentic, traditional wines.
