The name of Villa Diamante is closely linked to that of Antoine Gaita, a central figure in the valorization of the white wine of irpina, experienced biochemist and experimentator, recently disappeared. Antoine, who was well known for winemaking processes, founded the company in 1996 with his wife, Diamante Renna, on Montefredane hill in the province of Avellino: a landscape full of charm characterized by strong slopes and enchanting views.
The vineyards, located at approximately 400 meters of altitude, are conducted in a biological way, in full respect of nature and a traditional agronomic practice that gives humans minimal interventions. The soil is deep, rich in clay, stones and ancient lapilli from the eruptions of Vesuvius, exceptionally dedicated to white grape varieties. Even in the cellar the work is more based on the observation than on human intervention: spontaneous fermentation, no clarification or filtering operation, long stays in steel. Long contact with lees, before becoming a fashion, has been practiced at Villa Diamante since its origins and has been a great innovation throughout Irpinia.
The wines produced are endowed with a very original design style, centered on the search for maturity and inner density, the result of artisanal and punctual production methods and long aging. These are wines tied to the name of Fiano di Avellino, awarded with prizes and memoirs and nowadays legend, thanks in particular to the remarkable power of the palate that makes them competitive with the best white wines around the world, an expression of a poetics based on rich in aromas but also on the depth of taste.
