Bodegas Leda

Bodegas LEDA is based in a stately home built in the 19th century located in the town of Tudela del Duero, a small but historical place of Spain. Wine has been made here since medieval times. The appelation of LEDA is the land of Castilla y León.

LEDA was founded in 1998 by a group of friends who were also wine lovers, people like Eduardo and Alberto García, winemaking experts steeped in the wine lore of the Duero Valley.

Eduardo is technical director of the vineyard, responsible for monitoring the grape in its natural habitat – the enviroment –, as well as supervising the entire winemaking process. As befits the true country dweller, he uses his knowledge and passion for winemaking to get the best out of everything.

LEDA’s objective has been to develop unique and exclusive wines expressing the character of those ancient vines that give us the famous Tempranillo grape, a symbol of the Duero Valley. At first, the Garcia brothers concentrated on the search for older vineyards found between the areas of Ribero del Duero and Toro in Castilla y León. These are lands the Garcías know well, where they have worked with the grape for more than fifty years.

Of course LEDA uses its own vineyards, but also those of other growers in Castilla y León. Every year careful monitoring, control and selection is rigorously observed among these vineyards scattered along the Duero Valley. The aim is to express the character of the Tempranillo grape at its best.

Collaboration with the Masaveu family came in early 2009, providing extra financial and commercial knowledge. Thanks to this union of two controlling families, a new phase has started with the excellence of the product backed by experience and considerable track record of both groups in the wine industry. This is a union in which the best is contributed by both families to the benefit of LEDA.
