San Felice Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Poggio Rosso 2015
In the late 1970s, a number of selected sangiovese and colorino clones were planted at Poggio Rosso. This elegantly concentrated reserve is made from the painstaking selection of these grapes. Since the 2004 harvest, the original blend has been enriched with a small addition of pugnitello. Produced primarily in vintage years, the wine is conditioned in 500-litre ‘tonneaux’ for about 20 months and for a further 15 months in the bottle.

Soil composition Medium textured, predominantly calcareous marl breakdown of Alberese and Galestro strata, with abundant gravel-pebble mixture, resting on rocks the Monte Morello formation or on Macigno sandstone. Some extension into silt- and sand-rich alluvial soils.

Vinification 20-25 days fermentation on the skins at 28-30 °C, followed by malolactic fermentation.
