The Villscheider farm is located on a hill above the city of Bressanone, 700 meters above sea level, a stone's throw from the Chestnut Path and the Path of Saints of Europe that leads to the small church of San Cirillo. The Villscheiderhof is known as Buschenschank *) and appreciated for its delicious wines.
*) the term Buschenschank refers to the traditional country refreshment, also called refreshment at the frasca, from the bunch of green branches (in the local dialect: Buschen) exposed to signal its seasonal opening.
Florian Hilpold has owned the farm since 1997 and runs it with his family. Initially among the agricultural activities, the prevailing one was the zootechnics, while the fruit-growing and the viticulture occupied respectively the second and the third place in order of importance.
Over the years, the fruit and vine-wine sectors have seen steady growth. The prospects for the marketing of farm products appeared propitious, so in 2004 the family decided to abandon cattle breeding and set up a country restaurant in the building that had previously housed the stable.
Today the orchards cover 8.5 hectares of land and the vineyards extend over 3 hectares. The farm now has everything needed for vinification on the spot, while the agritourism with the refreshment that is open in spring and autumn and an apartment is the third source of income for the family.
