Founded in 1898 by Salvatore Contini, it now represents absolute excellence within the Sardinian wine scene. The company is located in Cabras on the Sinis Peninsula, a few steps from the Phoenician-Punic city of Tharros, the village of San Salvatore and the archaeological site of 'Sa Osa' where grape seeds dating back to 2000 B.C. have been found, the oldest evidence of vine cultivation in Sardinia. The experience and strength of the Contini generations produce an excellent wine, the company's flagship Vernaccia. The wine has won many important awards over the years and was the first Sardinian wine to win the Gambero Rosso's Three Glasses in 1989.
But the path of oenological experimentation does not stop. Contini products are Vermentino and Cannonau, Nieddera from the vine of the same name and Mamaioa wines, natural wines without added sulphites. The most excellent result of this experimentation is the Karmis, a unique wine made from a skilfull blend of Vernaccia and Vermentino grapes.
Contini is a company strong in its history but with an eye for innovation. This concept together with that of 'sardineness' accompanies every bottle of Contini wine in the local, national and International market.
