The first writings tell that in 1123, Pope Calixte II defended this small village and its vineyard to put an end to a surcharge.
After the war the wine trade in Alsace was totally disorganized. In 1954 the vine growers of Hunawihr put their efforts together to vinify and sell their own production.
Aware of the richness of their terroirs, the winemakers spent their days working in the vineyards ... And their nights building the buildings of the winery in which we continue to perpetuate their know-how.
50 years later, the Hunawihr winery is ranked among the best by "La Revue du Vin de France": 1st cooperative winery in Alsace and 3rd in France.
