Ampelographic features Leaf: medium, pentagonal, trilobate or rarely whole; Slightly twisted flap; Petiole breast open to V, with parallel or slightly superimposed edges; Upper side veins open to V, sometimes narrow. Bunch: large, pyramidal, elongated, winged with one or two wings, spatula. Acino: medium, spheroidal; Pruinous peel, blue-black color; Flavor with a slight characteristic aroma.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety Sweet and dry red wines are produced from this variety as, showing flavors of blackberry and raspberry, rose-scented aromas and a deep-purple hue. The grapes' thick skins mean that tannins can sometimes be overwhelming, although this is usually countered with oak aging, which helps to soften wines before they are bottled.
