History The Lacrima vine is also known by the name of the wine that is obtained, the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba. It is an autochthonous Venetian vine of ancient origin: it seems that in 1167 Frederick Barbarossa had drank of the wine produced by this grape when he lived in the castle of Morro d'Alba during the siege of Ancona. The origins of the name seem to derive from the fact that the grape juice, when it is ripe, exudes juice droplets that seem to be tears. According to others, the name would be linked to the elongated shape of the acorn, or to a distant relationship with the Spanish "tear" grape. Over the centuries, its presence has narrowed more and more to the only area of Morro d'Alba. For this reason, it has also threatened to extinction in the past decades, until in the Eighties it was protected with modern crops and with the designation of origin.
Ampelographic features Leaf: medium, pentagonal, pentalobata. Bunch: medium, pyramidal, winged, spatula. Acino: Medium, spherical with thick, consistent skin and black-blue color.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety Wine with ruby red color, with vinous scents, slightly aromatic, with pronounced alcoholiness and quite tannic and fresh. It is mainly used in grain. Sometimes they have sweet and liqueur versions.
Notes Vine of remarkable vigor and of a poorly productive production capacity. Its fertility begins on average from the second to third gem and extrinsic with 2 bud bunches. Sometimes she grapes on the feminine. It is especially sensitive to botrytic attacks and spiders, while not having particular sensitivity to other cryptogamic and insect-related illnesses. It is a vine that is well adapted to the temperate climate of the Marche coast. Commonly used gatenotes do not present any disadvantages. However, due to the reduced longevity of the plant due to the excessive force induced, it is not recommended to clamp on: 17-37 du Lot and 140 Ru.
