It is a vine that has ancient origins, it is thought that the primitive strains of Spanish origin, were introduced in Molise towards the end of the 18th century during the Bourbon occupation. The name Tintilia appears for the first time in a manuscript of the Agricultural Society of Campobasso in 1810. Only recently, thanks to research on genetic biodiversity, conducted by the University of Molise, it has been demonstrated that Tintilia is a unique grape variety present only in this area. region.
