Rivera Castel del Monte Nero di Troia Puer Apuliae Riserva 2016
Puer Apuliae or 'Son of Apulia': this is how Frederick II of Swabia was called, the 13th-century emperor who, with the Castel del Monte, left an indelible memory of himself to humanity. This wine of great character and elegance is a 'Puer Apuliae' because it is made from an almost forgotten clone of Nero di Troia selected by Rivera in its Tafuri vineyard.

Colour

Deep purple red.

Bouquet

Intense hints of small black fruits with notes of violets and star anise.

Flavour

Palate of great density, elegance and persistence.

Pairing

This wine's great intensity and density make it suitable for pairing with richly flavoured and fatty foods: large red meat roasts, game, meats with strong sauces and aged cheeses.

Cheese
