||Jalal ad-Din Rumi (1207-1273), was a poet and a Sufi mystic philosopher, founder of the Sufi confraternity of the Dancing Dervishes. He wrote the Mathnawi (Spiritual Song), a literary gem in the Persian language said to have been conceived in the vineyards of Konya (in Turkey). Its 26,000 verses of moral and didactic content reveal a wondrous combination of love of humanity and the concept of tolerance. When he died it was said of him: “He is like bread: who can think of going away from him?”.
