History |
The Albanian origins are so remote to be confused with the legend. The first chronicler to talk about it is Pliny the Elder, but also Pliny the Younger and Cone mention it, praising it as a great wine. Legend has it that the daughter of Emperor Theodosius, Galla Placidia, passes through a village in Romagna, offered a mouthpiece of Albana. The enchanted princess exclaimed, "You should not drink so much, but rather 'gold in gold' to pay tribute to your sweetness." So, from then on, the village was called Bertinoro and the Albana drank only in precious cups. Another great in History, Emperor Federico Barbarossa, was a great admirer of Albania. Along with the legend, the first historical news about the Albana of Romagna comes from the famous Agriculture Treaty written by Bolognese Pier de 'Crescenzi in 1200. Here is, in fact, the first description of the Albanian of Romagna And its production area: "powerful wine of noble flavor, benserbable and mezzanine thin ... and this kind of grape has the best in all of Romagna." In 1987, Albana di Romagna gained the prerogative of being the first Italian white wine to receive the Docg, the most prestigious certification to which high quality wines could aspire. The Albana di Romagna is the banner of the Romagna territory, the most representative native white grape variety and thanks to the special bond that it has developed with the territory, it is cultivated exclusively in Romagna. |
