"Orta takes its name from a ruined castle, so called, the ruins of which can still be seen on a rise near the Taverna del Passo d'Orta". (Report written in 1769 after the expulsion of the Jesuits).
The district of Passo d'Orta crossed the sheep-track coming from San Severo, passing through Lucera, Foggia, Ponte Carapelle, Cerignola until reaching Canosa. Already an important junction in pre-Roman times, on the route of the Via Traiana, the site became the site of one of Frederick II's Domus, dedicated to the time of feasting and imperial leisure, and later a resting place where to stay while waiting to pass the Customs. Passo d'Orta gave its name to the entire surrounding area, the district of Orta and today's Orta Nova, of course.
Our new company is located in this area full of history. For over fifty years we have cultivated our land with passion and day after day we see our vineyards grow with pride. We carefully select the best grapes to produce only quality organic wine that you can taste in our cellar or comfortably at home.
