The word Saomì derives from the Italian word 'sagome' ('shapes'), indicating a toponym for the land particularly fragmented into small parcels lapped by the Teva stream. The Teva, whose source in the Cartizze area, carries downstream the clay sediments that give these soils their unique qualities. |
