Kurtatsch Cabernet Sauvignon Freienfeld Riserva 2020
The name 'Frienfeld' derives from the Renaissance estate of the same name, where the winery was founded in 1900. Already then, the sun-exposed slopes of Kurtasch on porous limestone dolomite soil revealed their potential for Cabernet. The Freienfeld is only vinified with optimal weather conditions.

Bouquet

Blackberries and Mediterranean spices, e.g. laurel, marjoram and lavender, dominate the nose. Notes of peppermint and stone pine testify to its Alpine character.

Flavour

The exuberant richness of fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin. The soft tannin present and the stimulating acidity hint at a very long ageing potential.

Climate Altitude: 220-350 m. a.s.l. Exposure: South-East, steep terrain. A warm microclimate with temperatures up to 40°C and strong sunlight.
Soil composition Clay, sandy and gravelly soils with dolomite.
Yield per hectare 4,000 kg/hectare.
Vinification Temperature-controlled fermentation in the rotary fermenters.
Ageing In French barriques for 15 months. It then follows a further 9 months in large oak casks and at least 1 year of bottle ageing.
Total acidity 5.30 gr/L
Residual sugars 1.60 gr/L
