||Marlborough (New Zealand)
|Composition of the land
||Soil types range from the young alluvial soils of Rapaura, Renwick and Upper Awatere, which contain high percentages of stones from the New Zealand Greywacke River, to the older, denser clays of the southern valleys.
||Most of the vineyards were grown using the Scott Henry canopy management system, balanced on a vertical shoot positioning (VSP) pylon with two or three canes.
||Mostly machine-harvested in cool (often cold) night conditions, the sauvignon blanc grapes were harvested in half-ton cans, which were poured directly into the press and lightly pressed.
||The juice obtained was cold adjusted before fermentation in stainless steel, using mainly yeast culture for slow, fresh fermentation. Part of the juice was spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeasts.
