Greco di Tufo

Greco di Tufo at unbeatable prices

Greco di Tufo is one of the few Italian white wines that lends itself to ageing. Its origins are very ancient: some written evidence dates it back to the 1st century BC, imported from the Greek region of Thessaly, making it one of the oldest vines and wines in Italy. In the beginning, the vine was located near the slopes of Vesuvius, but over the centuries it spread to the vine-growing areas in the province of Avellino. Following DOC recognition in 1970, it achieved its definitive consecration in 2003 when it was elevated to Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) status. Its characteristic straw-yellow colour and intense fragrance combined with a dry but harmonious flavour are the hallmarks of Greco di Tufo DOCG, which, thanks to its important structure, can also be aged. On xtraWine you can choose from numerous labels of greco di tufo from important producers such as: Feudi San Gregorio, Benito Ferrara, Quintodecimo, Vinosia and Fonzone. All the bottles of greco di tufo on xtraWine are selected from the best vintages of 2016 and 2017, and go perfectly with fish and shellfish dishes, but will also enhance special dishes such as buffalo mozzarella.
