History |
Merlot was introduced to South Tyrol 130 years ago, together with the other Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. As early as 1890 - when much of the wine was still being sold in barrels - the first bottle of Merlot was offered for sale by the then Agricultural Institute of San Michele all'Adige. The Brenntal vineyard borders the northern offshoot of the great limestone massif, over which Kurtasch stands out. A capillary network of water veins, coming from three directions, deposits the mineral salts. |
