“Novecento Rosso“ is a well-structured and complex red and can surely be positioned among the premium quality segment of Umbrian wines. This superb blend of Merlot and Sangiovese is made from unique grape varieties grown in Umbria, the heart of Italy. It is the perfect accompaniment to roasted meats and dishes of wild game.

Delicate notes of ripened fruits, cinnamon, cocoa and black pepper.

Flavour

In the mouth it is soft and pleasing with a velvety smoothness and extremely balanced taste. The long finish is both warm and intense.

History The Novecento Rosso, is dedicated to the anniversary of the signing of the Papal Bull “PIE POSTULATIO VOLUNTATIS” in 1113 by Pope Paschal II, in which the Pope formally recognized the establishment of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and placed it under the direct protection of the Holy See. In recognition of this 900 year-old tradition of noble and honorable service, this special wine is made every year by Castello di Magione.

Harvest Hand harvested at the beginning of October.
Vinification Scrupulous agronomic procedures and the vineyards’ superb exposure provide exceptionally high quality grapes. Grapes are harvested from mid-September until early October. They are vinified separately, with frequent pumping-over and pressing.
Ageing This is followed by approximately eight months of aging in barriques for the Merlot, and the masses are then blended together in the percentages indicated above.
