History |
The quality of the wines from the island of Giglio was known since the time of the Ancient Romans, who called it 'the Green Island' because it was completely covered with vineyards and who came to fetch the highly prized Giglio wine with their ships to serve it at the court of the Emperors. The island is entirely terraced with ancient terraces dating back to prehistoric times. These terraces are one metre high and one and a half metres wide and have a uniqueness that makes them unmistakable: it is incredible to think that all of this was done by hand, they are authentic monuments to human labour and engineering. |
