Young and Fresh White Wines
Baglio di Pianetto Monreale Murriali 2021
A white wine endowed with great freshness that enhances the distinctive aromatic linearity of the varietal selection of indigenous grapes from which it is made: Baglio di Pianetto thus embraces the Monreale DOC, with a wine with a strong and recognisable identity. The name and label recall the Norman town of the same name a few kilometres from Palermo, the cathedral and its magnificent cloister. If the aromas are persuasive, with notes of citrus and white orange blossom, the taste is full-bodied and vibrant, with a lively mineral note.

Colour

Straw yellow with greenish reflections.

Bouquet

Mineral with floral notes of orange blossom, lime and broom, followed by fresh fruit of green apple and peach.

Flavour

Fresh, quite warm, excellent on the palate and pleasantly soft. The aftertaste confirms the fruity and tasty notes.

Pairing

Ideal as an aperitif, it is excellent with seafood, shellfish and all fish dishes, especially turbot or grilled squid. It is also excellent with Tagliolini pasta with bottarga or simple ingredients such as tuna and Pachino tomatoes.

History This wine originates from the desire to valorise the company's terroir, which is part of the Monreale DOC.
Origin Village of Pianetto, Town of Santa Cristina Gela (Palermo).
Soil composition Medium-textured tending to clayey, rich in skeletons and minerals.
No. plants per hectare 4,830 plants per hectare.
Yield per hectare 9,000 kg/hectare.
Harvest By hand, in August and September. The grapes are harvested manually in boxes, for a first selection, at three different harvest times: the first early in technological pre-ripeness to ensure greater acid concentration, the second at full phenolic ripeness in maximum varietal expression, and the third late in controlled over-ripening to impart the soft, aromatic notes typical of the varietal.
Vinification The manually harvested grapes in crates are immediately transported to the winery and, after further sorting, are destemmed and cold-crushed to allow maceration in the press. Fermentation lasts about 20 days in stainless steel tanks, where over-ripening occurs.
Ageing 6 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks followed by at least one month in the bottle.
Total acidity 5.30 gr/L
pH 3.38
Production year 6,500 bottles
Allergens Contains sulphites
Pairing Ideal as an aperitif, it is excellent with seafood, shellfish and all fish dishes, especially turbot or grilled squid. It is also excellent with Tagliolini pasta with bottarga or simple ingredients such as tuna and Pachino tomatoes.
