Venezuela is located not far from the equator, which greatly influences the climate of the territory that is very hot. You can clearly distinguish two seasons, the first rainy and the second very dry and dry. The country stands out for the production of the precious rum, loved and appreciated all over the world. Initially the local distillate was produced in an artisanal way without following precise regulations, but in recent years the producers have adapted to the regulations and have been able to increase their production and sale of rum, exporting the product in all the countries of the world. Three elements enhance the scenario of the production of the Venezuelan rum , ie passion of producers, dedication to work and use of local products, among which the sugar cane stands out as a master ingredient, introduced by Hispanic colonizers.

Climate and soil Although Venezuela extends between the equator and the 12 ° N parallel, and therefore in the equatorial climate zone, its climate picture is rather diverse. The only constant element, and moreover typical of the equatorial regions, is the very modest annual thermal excursion, which rarely exceeds 4-5 ° C; the average annual and monthly temperatures, with respect to which the excursion is evaluated, are quite different in the Andean localities, in turn differentiated according to the altitude (in Venezuela too there is the distinction between tierras calientes, tierras templadas and tierras frias ) and in those of the llanos and the coastal region. Precipitation is very abundant on the outer slopes of the Andean chains (Mérida, 1700 mm, but in the region it exceeds even 2000 mm) and on the Guiana plateau (up to 2500 mm), while they are very scarce in the western section of the Caribbean coast ( Maracaibo, 300 mm).
History Inhabited by the Caribs and Aruachi Indians, reached by C. Colombo in his third voyage (1498), Venezuela was the object of a failed attempt at colonization by the bankers of Augusta Welser, whom Charles V had granted in 1528 exploration and administrative rights . Revocation of the concession (1546), the Spanish colonization began: economic development was pursued by first exploiting indigenous, then African, servile labor; the latter was used in the coastal plantations of sugar, cocoa, tobacco and, subsequently, coffee, planted starting from the 17th century. and main source of wealth along with livestock, bred in the immense indoor llanos. At first dependent on the Audiencia of Santo Domingo, Venezuela was transformed into Capitanía general in 1731 and later included in the viceroyalty of Nueva Granada. Among the whites, the Spaniards (1.3%) held the monopoly of the main civil, ecclesiastical and military offices, as well as of the inter-Atlantic trade, while the wealthiest landowners and planters were Creoles (whites born in America).
Typical products The Venezuelan rum is defined by the experts as a dark premium rich in spicy aromas with a robust body and sweet taste. Offers sensations to the soft palate and is proposed accompanied with pear juice.
Typical dishes Venezuelan gastronomy is very varied and rich, on the coast in fact abound fish, shellfish and seafood, in the interior are more common beef and pork and vegetables, while in the Amazon we eat mainly of game. The dishes are prepared either simply, for example roasted or stewed with side dish with potatoes, rice, pancakes or beans, which in a complex manner, as in the case of the sanchoco or the criollo pabellon. Excellent production of tropical fruit, which is often the basis of delicious smoothies and juices, such as papaya, avocado, mango, pineapple and bananas, all cut fruit smaller than the same that is on the market in Italy, but extremely tasty. Among the drinks, in addition to coca-cola, sprite and fanta, domestic beer (cerveza) is widely consumed, which can be both light and dark and is generally light and fresh. Among the spirits certainly stands out Ron (rum), among the best in the world, especially in quality anejo, aged, whether you drink either alone (smooth or with ice) or cocktails. Other liqueurs are the aguardiente and the calentado.
