The Ciroc distillery has become famous in a few years as the author of the most refined vodka in the world. Forget about potatoes, corn, sorghum, rye, wheat; Ciroc vodka is made with only top quality French grapes: Mauzac Blanc from the Gaillac region and Ugni Blanc from the Cognac region. The distillery is based instead in Chavenceaux, in the Poitou-Charentes region, where the harvested grapes are distilled under the control of the master distiller Jean-Sebastien Robiquet, who proceeds to obtain a nectar with a fresh and very soft taste.
The production process involves 5 total distillations, starting from 4 of Mauzac Blanc in steel columns and 1 of Ugni Blanc in a continuous copper still. The Mauzac Blanc distillate, which has reached 96%, is then mixed with that of Ugni Blanc, of only 5%, and the final product is distilled one last time in a copper alembic still typical for the production of Armagnac. Some labels, among the latest launched on the market, provide for further flavoring.
