History The Lambruschi family is part of the Vitis Vinifera species and should not be confused with Vitis Lambrusca. This family comes from ancient wild vineyards of the Po Valley, and its name comes from the Romans pointing to wild spontaneous vines at the edges, called labrums of the cultivated fields called bruscum. Hence the name labrusca vitis, now Lambrusco, cultivated almost exclusively in Emilia. Vine has acquired this name for centuries, and now it is a whole widespread family, though its wines do not reach those qualities that are standard in many areas. However, there are several qualities among the Lambruschi, and Lambrusco di Sorbara represents the best of the family, exploited for some time and already quoted by Andrea Bacci, Pope Sisto V's doctor in the sixteenth century, in one of his works, De Naturali Vinorum History, one of the most important books on the wines of the old continent. The author describes the Lambruschi of Modena hills as spicy and fragrant.
Ampelographic features Leaf: size less than medium, pentagonal, almost whole or with three lobes; U-shaped pelvic breast is very open, which often follows the base of the major ribs shortly; Upper side thighs just mentioned; Corner at the top of the median lobe; straight; Flat planes, unmarked; Flat flap and often with revolving edges; Top green, opaque, smooth; Grayish-greenish, spotted page with pubescent and rosé ribs at the base; Thin teeth, fairly regular, wide-base, with convex margins. Bunch: medium size (about 15 cm long), elongated, pyramidal, with a wing, generally very spatulate (by casting); Visible peduncle, herbaceous, thin; Medium pedicels, thin, red towards the eye, which is evident, purplish, verrucous; Medium, red-vinyl brush. Acino: medium, subtropical, very pruinous, with blue-black color, thick, consistent with persistent navel; Juicy, sweet flesh.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety The color of the wine obtained from the Sorbara lambrusco is rosy or light ruby ​​red and vibrant depending on the type of winemaking. The scent is medium intense and fruity, with scents of raspberries, strawberries and gently, purple. The taste has good freshness and softness, pleasant sapidity and medium structure.
Notes Resistance to adversity: good resistance to rotting, to fever and frost; It is subject to casting and acinellatura.
