Santa Margherita is the heart of the Santa Margherita Wine Group, which was founded by Count Gaetano Marzotto in 1935 and has gradually grown to become a veritable "oenological mosaic" with its own cellars and vineyards in some of Italy's most beautiful regions: eastern Veneto, the hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, Alto Adige, Lombardy with Franciacorta, Tuscany with Chianti Classico and the Maremma, and Sicily. Inextricably linked to its iconic wine - Pinot Grigio, founder of an entire generation of new Italian white wines, market leader for over fifty years, distributed in 85 countries - Santa Margherita has made its capacity for innovation, managerial structure, technological development, quality and environmental and social sustainability its distinctive features. At the heart of all this are two fixed points: the vineyard and the people. The Villanova winery has been the focus of a major overhaul in recent years and is now completely self-sufficient in terms of energy, a symbol of how everything to do with innovation is central to Santa Margherita's interpretation of the territory and its traditions.
