The San Lazzaro Agricultural Company s.a.s. was born in May 2003 carrying on the family tradition, in the cultivation of the vine and in the production of quality wine, respecting the environment and the biological rhythms of the vineyard.
The company, which is owned by Paolo Capriotti and Carosi Elisetta, is in an excellent position, at the top of a hill at 290 meters above sea level, about 15 km from the Adriatic and 25 km from the Apennine mountains, it is situated in the municipality of Offida, the heart of the Rosso Piceno Superiore is one of the historic Italian DOC wines.
The work in the cultivation of the vine has become more and more the main activity of the two spouses and an integral part of them, as it is a family-run company, and after several years they have reached the necessary awareness to give a more definitive and personal appearance both to wines and to the cellar. To give rise to wines with a non-standard taste, the vineyards have always been cultivated organically, using means and techniques in accordance with the agricultural times.
The small but functional cellar is an integral part of an early 20th century farmhouse, which stands at the apex of a ridge with a panoramic view that stretches from the sea to the Apennine chain. The vineyards are located in the south, south-west and north-west, in a predominantly clayey soil, they have an age ranging from 10-15 years for Polesio and Podere 72, to 40 years for the Grifola.
The company consists of two adjacent farms, for a total of 18 hectares, of which 15 are vineyards and 3 are olive groves and woods, from which 40,000 bottles of wine are currently produced. The philosophy of the company is therefore directed to the extreme care of the vineyards to obtain quality grapes and to guarantee the maximum of the product in the bottle.
