Maison Lillet

Maison Lillet was born in Podensac, a petit village in the renowned region of Bordeaux. The perfect location for the production of your favourite French aperitif! Here, the production process has been carried out according to the same traditional methods since 1872. The 10 experts in our team apply their craftsmanship to make the smooth and refreshing aperitif we all love.

Brothers Raymond and Paul Lillet, producers of liqueurs and traders in quality wines and spirits, founded the Maison Lillet in Podensac, a village south of Bordeaux, in 1872. But it was in 1887 that the first, true and unique Bordeaux aperitif was created: Lillet.

Lillet became famous after the end of the First World War in Great Britain, in the 1930s and 1940s. The brand continued to establish itself in the 1950s, consolidating its presence in London's leading bars. This was the era that witnessed the birth of Vesper, James Bond's legendary Lillet cocktail. It was Ian Fleming, author of 007, who discovered the aperitif in a cocktail, which he later included in the novel 'Casino Royale'.

In 1962, Lillet Rouge was created for the American market, which was developing a passion for red wine.

The search for authentic, quality products made using local expertise gave new impetus to the spread of aperitifs with great character such as Lillet. It is a phenomenon that transcends national borders and fuels further growth in Lillet sales worldwide.

In 2011, building on the success of rosé wines, Lillet Rosé was launched.
