Krug

Krug was founded in 1843 by Johann-Joseph Krug, a German immigrant from Mainz on the Rhine. Johann learned the trade at Champagne Jacquesson where he worked for 9 years before founding Krug in Reims. In 1962, Henri Krug took the reins of the house, and he is still largely responsible for winemaking decisions together with Eric Lebel.

The house owns 20 hectares of vineyards in Ay, Le Mesnil, and Trépail. The rest of the grapes come from producers with long-term contracts.
