I Turrizzi

More than a thousand kilometres away are the "Tozzi" farms of Casola Valsenio, in the province of Ravenna, and the "I Turrizzi" estate, situated on the northern side of Mount Etna. And yet, "'A Muntagna", as the volcano is called, with its white clouds and the perpetual breath of the wind, seems to rise up as a majestic guardian of the magmatic uniqueness that from the depths of the earth binds passions, desires and men everywhere. The land of Castiglione di Sicilia is imperfect, uneven and harsh. There, under the white breath of Etna, 650 metres above sea level, ancient and sculptural vines sink rebellious roots between the sands and stones of volcanic origin.

The colours of this corner of Sicily are bright and pure, and with their strong contrasts, they resemble the decisive and whirling brushstrokes of Vincet van Gogh. The green of the vineyards is a chromatic counterpoint to the black of the lava and the intense yellow of the flowering brooms. In this environment, unique for its landscape and microclimate, characterised by high temperature fluctuations, ancient vines are planted in soils rich in minerals that see their fertility renewed with each new eruption when the ash from the explosions settles on the ground. The wines of these "contrade", expression and character of a wild and noble land, are able to evoke ancient stories and millenary traditions. Robust, intense, elegant and citrus fruits, they bring the breath of the volcano into the world.
