It stands out for its elegant profile, suited to long ageing over time. Careful management of extraction gives it superior complexity on the palate, highlighting the ageing potential that is the hallmark of this Barbaresco Riserva.

Where it comes from

The wine originates from the Meruzzano Mention, in the municipality of Treiso, following the natural slopes of the Rongalio vineyard. The historic vines rest at three hundred metres above sea level, enhanced by an excellent south-west exposure. To bring out the specific characteristics of each microzone, the bunches are harvested and processed in separate lots. The medium-textured soil, calcareous and rich in minerals, features clay veins that give this red a profound territorial identity.

How it is produced

Vinification involves gentle pressing and fermentations carried out in separate batches. A portion of the harvest macerates for about three weeks, while the remainder undergoes submerged cap maceration for up to forty-five days, which is essential for defining the tannic structure. The wine then matures for twenty-four months in large barrels, preserving the integrity of the fruit. Ageing is completed with twelve months of rest, starting from a low yield of fifty or sixty quintals per hectare.

History and Curiosities

Barbaresco Rongalio® was born from the passion of Giovanni Abrigo in the prestigious Meruzzano area, in Treiso.
