Features wine	The wine obtained from the monica grape is ruby red, transparent. On the palate it is soft, gentle, ethereal.
Growing areas	It is currently widely used in Sardinia, particularly in the province of Sassari (it is considered, by dissemination, the third red berry of the island).
History	The Monica vine was probably introduced in Sardinia by Spanish monks around the year 1000, although in Spain it is currently unknown. In the eleventh century Camaldolesi monks planted it around the convents. Some ampelographers see affinity with the Mission, black grapes in trout by the Franciscan missionaries in Mexico between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
