| Histoire |
Vine of ancient origins (according to Calvi was already present in the middle of the 14th century), probably brought to the holes of Scanzo by Roman colonists. Its typical production area is located around the municipality of Scanzorosciate (BG) in Valcalepio; The Moscato di Moscato di Scanzo became Doc (formerly Valcalepio subzone) on May 14, 2002. Moscato di Scanzo wines are characterized by their intense, deep ruby-red color, full body and powerful aromas. The finer examples have an aroma reminiscent of dried sage and rose, maraschino cherries, acacia honey and even a hint of sweet spice leaning towards cinnamon, clove and licorice. The flavors are persistently sweet and have a rich intensity similar to port. |
