Wine production is very important in the Valles Calchaquíes. The wine produced in the region benefits from the mild and not very humid climate of the valleys, whose low rainfall averages less than 250 mm per year. The most characteristic wine grown in the region is torrontés. Most of the wine cellars around the city offer free guided tours.
