Regaleali Contea di Sclafani Rosso del Conte 2018
This wine originated in 1970 as Regalali Riserva del Conte, but is known as Rosso del Conte. Originally, it was a Nero d'Avola grown as a head-training vine, with a small addition of Perricone grapes, another native Sicilian variety. The desire was to create a great wine in Sicily that could compete with the most important crus around the world. Its history is long and made up of numerous evolutions, including different types of ageing. Vintages deemed not up to standard are not produced, which has already happened five times in the past. The most recent evolution dates back to the 2003 vintage, when Rosso del Conte became the best harvest selection of Nero d'Avola and the other red grapes on the estate.
