Leaf: pentagonal, medium to large, quinquelobed; in ‘Dindarella rizza’ often the terminal lobe tends to a further trilobed and the leaf is very jagged; ‘U’ shaped petiolar sinus, following the veins for a stretch; upper lateral sinuses in the shape of a closed lyre, sometimes with overlapping edges; in ‘Dindarella rizza’ they are always overlapping forming two eyes; lower lateral sinuses U-shaped or lyre-shaped; in ‘Dindarella rizza’ they are closed lyre-shaped; upper page with a few arachnoid hairs; lower page arachnoid; flap slightly twisted, thick, coarse; lobes slightly twisted; angle at the top of the terminal lobes straight; surface of the flap slightly blistered; colour of the main veins green on both lower and upper page; lateral teeth pronounced, regular to two sizes, convex, broad-based; dark green on upper page, light green on lower page; shiny. Berry: medium large, irregularly shaped, (spherical or sub-rounded), with persistent, prominent umbilicus; transverse section fairly regular; skin pruinose, firm, red-blue with irregular distribution of colouring and purplish reflections when ripe; juice colourless, flesh juicy; flavour characteristic, marked; pedicel medium, green, tending to reddish in Dindarella rizza, brush short, wine-coloured; pedicel difficult to separate from berry. |
