The proud Cannonau vines grow in the south-eastern part of the Sella&Mosca estate and in other small plots scattered around the property deemed most suitable for it. Its elegant, sophisticated nose juxtaposes the typical delicate floral sensations of the grape variety with the haughtier Mediterranean notes conveyed by the frequent north-easterly breezes. On the palate it is concentrated and lingering, with warmth and good structure, making it the perfect accompaniment to the island’s typical meat dishes, especially roast suckling pig.
The initial ruby red gradually shades into warmer, less intense tones as the wine ages.
Stylishly elegant, mingling the variety’s restrained signature florality with more assertive Mediterranean fragrances carried on the frequent north-easterly Grecale breezes. Discreet but pleasing wafts of wood-derived aromas from the Slavonian oak casks used for maturation.
Intense, warm and well-structured. Substantial ripe red berry fruits nicely complemented by tertiary notes of spice from bottle ageing and by well-developed tannins. Lingering retronasal aromatics.

Vineyards location The Cannonau vine thrives all over Sardinia but it is on the warm, sandy soils of the coast that it has found an exceptionally favourable environment. At Tenute Sella&Mosca, Cannonau is grown in the south-east quadrant and on other small plots that have been identified as particularly suitable for the variety.
Vinification The grapes are very carefully crushed and destemmed before undergoing low temperature pre-fermentation skin contact to encourage the extraction of colour compounds and aroma precursors. Fermentation on the skins is mainly at a temperature of 25°C, which rises to 28–30°C at the end of the process.
Aging Complex, in several distinct stages, including periods in traditional Slavonian oak casks, steel and cement vats, concluding with ageing in bottle.The perfect partner for Sardinia’s classic meat dishes, especially “porcetto”, roast suckling pig.
