The wine wishes to represent the highest expression of the Romagna autochthonous grape variety: Sangiovese. Its elegance and expressivity do not hinder, but rather increase the appeal of this wine, its richness and soft, pleasant taste and fruity bouquet . The name is a nod to tradition, and more importantly to the community’s founder. Avi, in fact, means “A Vincenzo”, that is - “To Vincenzo”.
Powerful ruby red with a garnet rim.
The well-developed nose has overtones of violet, plum, clove, nutmeg and cedar wood.
To the palate reveals the wine’s elegance, succulent extracts and a full structure of smooth tannins. A vibrant richness of flavour leads to a finish with attractive hints of wild berries and sweet spices.

Vineyards location Out of the total 50 hectares of Sangiovese vineyards, only 25 hectares are chosen for growing the grapes destined for making Avi. The vineyards are located in the heart of the community and, indeed, form the original nucleus that the community grew around. The guyot training system keeps the Sangiovese vine’s exuberance under control. Vineyard management operations are all done by the young residents of the community, from pruning to crop thinning (which limits average yield per vine to about 1 kg) to the harvest
Harvest In late September/early October when the grapes are perfectly ripe. Further bunch sorting in the cellar ensures that only the best go on to begin fermentation
Production technique The Avi wine-making process is geared to preserving the special qualities and typicality of a variety we particularly cherish.Malolactic completely done
Aging In large 2800-litre barrels more in keeping with Sangiovese’s geographical origins. Long months in the cellar enhance its qualities and its natural, excellent potential. Further bottle ageing for at least 18 months before sale.
