||Merlot was introduced in South Tyrol 130 years ago, along with other Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauv. Already in 1890 - when most of the wine was traded again in barrels - it went on sale the first bottle of Merlot of the then Agricultural Institute of San Michele.
