    Montenisa Riserva is elegant and sophisticated just like its namesake, Contessa Maggi, made from selected Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes, this is Montenisa's most representative wine.

    History The Montenisa Estate is located in the heart of the Franciacorta, in the Borgo di Calino, near Lake Iseo. In 1158 the village was given to a local noble family by the Bishop of Brescia, and towards the end of the 1800´s Lavinia Calini, who married Gaetano Maggi, inherited the property. It thereafter always remained part of the noble Brescian family´s estate.In 1999 the families of Marquis Antinori and Count Maggi came to an agreement regarding the management of the lands surrounding the manor house, with the objective of producing a great Franciacorta from the noble vineyards.

    Vinification At the end of winter, after the first alcoholic fermentation, which had taken place in part in stainless steel tanks and in part in barriques, the wine underwent a second fermentation in the bottle and subsequently remained on the lees for at least 40 months. The remuage was done by hand in the characteristic pupitres (or riddling racks), following the true classic tradition, in order to give individual attention to each bottle.
