Tenuta Guado al Tasso (Antinori)
The vintage got off to a rather difficult start. A very rainy spring posed a series of problems, in particular a difficult flowering and the threat from the major vine diseases. The largely dry summer re-established balance and ended with good weather for the harvest, which is essential for careful selection of the best bunches and the assurance of full ripeness at harvest. In the end the crop was excellent.
Bright pink peony color.
Fruity aromas, with raspberry notes that enhance the freshness.
Well-balanced and tasty, with a pleasant fruity aftertaste of raspberry and dog rose.

Vineyards location The grapes originate in the “Scalabrone” vineyard, within the Bolgheri estate, “Tenuta Guado al Tasso”. Tenuta Guado al Tasso is situated about 80 Km south-west of Florence near the medieval town of Bolgheri, in Maremma. The 900-hectare estate extends down the Tyrrhenian coast to the hills and apart from 300 hectares of vineyards, other crops grown here include wheat, corn, sunflowers, olives. The vineyard and consequently the wine are named after the bandit "Scalabrone" who lived in this area in the early 19th century, a kind of Robin Hood figure who attacked ships in the old canal harbour Bolgher.
Harvest The harvested bunches were de-stemmed and lightly pressed.
Temperature fermentation Maceration took place at a controlled temperature of about 10°C, for between 4–12 hours depending on the grape variety. This was necessary to achieve a must with the right intensity of color, but without any astringent notes.
