1858: Edouard Kressmann arrived in Bordeaux from Prussia. He soon developed a keen interest in wine and joined a negociant company, where he gained valuable experience in vinification, marketing and selling wine.
1871: The Ed. Kressmann & Cie trading house was founded, and with it, the inherent desire to extend and diversify the company portfolio of Grand Cru wines. Kressmann began to seek out a selection of lesser known Châteaux with terroirs of high quality potential. Château La Pierrière, AOC Castillon – Côtes de Bordeaux, was one of the châteaux identified by Edouard Kressmann. This partnership is still in place today.
1929: The Kressmann family became more involved in winemaking with the purchase of Château Latour-Martillac. Edouard Kressmann had acted as consultant at this property since 1871.
1960: The Meffre family entrusted Kressmann with the exclusive distribution rights to Château La Commanderie, Cru Bourgeois, AOC Saint-Estèphe, which still features in the Kressmann portfolio today.
1990's: Launch of Kressmann Grande Reserve and Croix Saint Martin. These brands result from the uncompromising selection of wines from our partner growers and express all the richness and character of each terroir from the different Bordeaux appellations.
